Marquette handles Mississippi River flooding
MARQUETTE, Iowa (KCRG) - The Mississippi River in Marquette has hit the moderate flood stage and it’s expected to rise another foot before it crests early next week. The City of Marquette shuts its floodgates and uses water pumps once the Mississippi River reaches 19 feet high. On Saturday the river was over that height. The highest the river has ever been at McGregor and Marquette was a little over 25 feet.
Brown Punches Ticket to Paris Olympics
EUGENE, Ore. – Former Hawkeye Brittany Brown qualified for the Paris Olympics with a 21.90 personal record in the 200 meters on Saturday night at Hayward Field. Brown started in lane nine and finished second overall. Lanes seven, eight and nine produced the qualifiers, with Gabby Thomas (21.81) winning from lane seven. McKenzie Long earned bronze with a 21.91 from lane seven.

New Iowa law regulates how cities can use traffic camera ticket revenue
PRAIRIE CITY, Iowa — A new law reforming how revenue is distributed from traffic camera finds is forcing cities to decide where to reallocate their money. The law will go into effect on July 1 and requires that cities only use revenue from traffic cameras to fund infrastructure improvement projects and police and fire department operating costs.
