Iowa women’s basketball target Kate Harpring recognized among ESPN’s summer standouts
One of the names that has emerged on Iowa’s recruiting board is talented 2026 guard Kate Harpring. Harpring picked up an offer from Jan Jensen and the Iowa Hawkeyes earlier this week after a standout showing in the Select Events’ Midwest Summer Classic in Ohio. Charles City Community Fund Hosts Cornhole Fundraiser Saturday
Teams can still sign up for the Charles City Community Fund “Cornhole Tournament” Saturday (07.20) at the Floyd County Fair. The Community Fund’s Brian Fuller says, for a $20 entry fee, two-person teams will compete in a double elimination tournament with 100% full cash payout of team entry fees.
Davenport woman sentenced for assault with scissors
A 57-year-old Davenport woman was sentenced to prison Thursday after she pleaded guilty in connection with theft of a cell phone and a threat with scissors. Debra Miller pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree theft and a charge of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. She appeared in court with her attorney and was sentenced to up to 10 years for the theft charge and up to two years for the assault charge.
