He was 17 years old. He had $22.60 in his pocket,” says Dan Drahos, the current owner and operator of Drahos Shoe Store. Don’s grandfather used those talents to start up a shoe repair business in Belle Plaine during the Great Depression, and eventually passed the business along to his son.

One person flown to the hospital after Charles City auto accident
CHARLES CITY, Iowa – One person was flown to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning. Charles City Fire Rescue says it was called to the accident south of town around 5:15 am and arrived to find two cars with significant damage. One person was already receiving medical treatment by AMR Ambulance Service. A second person had to be removed from a vehicle using hydraulic spreaders and cutters.
