East Feliciana COA celebrated July 4th early with luncheon, dancing, games
Seniors from across the parish celebrated Independence Day a little early on June 28 at the East Feliciana Council on Aging site in Jackson. Many of the approximately 90 attendees, quite a few dressed in red, white and blue, arrived early to get their favorite table or to visit with friends.
Central Police: Man going 30+ over speed limit during deadly November crash
CENTRAL — Charges have been filed eight months after a Baton Rouge man was killed in a crash while on his way to work. Charles Lepisto, 50, was heading to his job in Zachary on November 3 when his Honda Accord was hit head-on by a Chevy Silverado 3500 on Joor Rd. in Central. Central Police identified Dakota Naquin, 21, as the driver of the Silverado. Naquin allegedly left the road, overcorrected, and crossed into Lepisto’s lane, resulting in the head-on collision.

New Roads police make fourth arrest in shooting that killed Zachary High student
NEW ROADS, La. (BRPROUD) – The New Roads Police Department has made a fourth arrest in connection to a shooting that killed a Zachary High School student. Chief Cedrick Epps said ZayQuin Joseph, 19, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder on Tuesday, July 2. He was booked into the Pointe Coupee Detention Center.
Louisiana wins 4-H Shooting Sports national championship
Victoria McClung of Bossier City won the small-bore rifle category in the Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships held June 23-28 in Grand Island, Neb. McClung helped the Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Team win its fourth championship in the last five years.
