JACKSON (WWJ) — A corrections officer is behind bars for allegedly smuggling drugs into a Michigan prison.

Michigan State Police officials on Thursday announced they arrested a 48-year-old Jackson man who works for the Michigan Department of Corrections.

His arrest came after MDOC staff got a tip the man was smuggling narcotics into the Parnall Correctional Facility in Jackson.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail.

As the investigation is in its early stages, no other information was released.

It was not immediately clear what type of drugs the corrections officer was allegedly smuggling or how long it had been taking place.
