“I did it,” David Callihan, 36 told reporters of the killing 4-year-old Erin Brunett, who was found dead Thursday in Callihan’s car in Jackson, Miss. Her 6-year-old sister, Jalie, was found alive nearby.

“I have no reason for what I did,” Callihan said. “All I know is I was sober and only on Lexapro, and off Lexapro, and I have also been diagnosed with multiple personality disorder.”
He made his apparent confession to journalists outside police headquarters Friday in Jackson.
“I have told them everything I did, and I have agreed to not fight it,” he said, as he was being put in the back seat of a Rankin County Sheriff’s Deputy’s vehicle. “For what I did, lethal injection is the easiest thing for me.”
Callihan was charged with capital murder and sexual battery for abducting the Brunett sisters from Louisiana and bringing them across state lines into Mississippi, WDSU reported.
Callihan added he was “not pretending to be crazy. I am certified. I have only been out of the nuthouse for two weeks.”
The girls’ mother, Callie Brunett, 35, was found dead days earlier. Callihan is also a suspect in her death.

The girls were found at a grisly scene at a location that contained small animal cages.
Callie Brunett’s blood-covered body was found June 13 at her home in Loranger, La., roughly three hours from Callihan’s current home in Jackson. Callihan had been involved with Callie Brunett, WDSU reported.
The FBI has now taken the lead on the investigation.

An Amber alert was put out for Callie’s missing daughters after her father discovered her body inside her trailer.
Callihan sometimes lived under a bridge, and at other times, in a camper, they said.

At times he was seen naked with a crossbow, once set a shed on fire and had broken into different homes, neighbors claimed.
Darci Heck said she lived across the street from Callihan in Amite.
“I mean, I’m glad he’s been caught, but I’m terrified,” Heck said.

Heck’s 12-year-old daughter said she felt afraid every time she saw Callihan in the area.
“It hurt so much to think he lived right there. It could have been us. It could have been anyone,” Laci Beetz said.
Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade described the scene as “horrible” and “tragic.” He said he believes the area where the girls were found may have been linked to human trafficking.
Jackson Police had no further details about the alleged human trafficking when The Post called Saturday.
