Daniel Callihan, indicted on murder and kidnapping charges for the death of 35-year-old Callie Brunett and abduction of her daughters Erin and Jalie, is now charged in federal court in New Orleans for kidnapping.

A recently-released federal court document illustrates a disturbing chain of events prosecutors say took place from the time Brunett was murder to the time Callihan was captured in Jackson, Mississippi.

According to the affidavit, Callihan admitted to investigators that he repeatedly stabbed Brunett on June 12, then kidnapped Erin, 4, and Jaile, 6. This was one day before anyone knew of the crimes.

Brunett's body was discovered the next day, and with the girls missing, authorities scrambled to find them.

The documents say the girls were found June 13 in a pit behind a house on Boozier Drive in Jackson. Erin was dead.

According to the affidavit, Callihan admitted murdering the younger girl and intending to keep Jalie alive as a "sex slave."

WWL-TV reports Callihan's lawyer is not saying much.

"At this point it really would be improper for me to make any type of comment about the nature of the case, the difficulty, ease, what’s going to happen," Kerry Cuccia said.

Callihan is already charged with first degree murder and kidnapping in state court in Louisiana. He also faces murder and kidnapping charges in Mississippi.

Victoria Cox, and alleged accomplice, is also charged in Louisiana and faces charges in Mississippi and federal courts.
