JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said the estranged husband of a missing woman was killed during a shooting at a gas station.

The shooting happened at the Shell gas station on Suncrest Drive at McDowell Road on Sunday, July 21.

According to Wade, 48-year-old Derrick Coleman and 37-year-old Jasvir Singh were killed during the shooting. Singh was the owner of the Shell gas station.

The police chief said the suspects were in a Honda Accord, and the rear passenger fired the shots that killed Coleman and Signh. Four others were also injured, and their injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. Wade said police are analyzing the surveillance video to identify the suspects.

Coleman was the husband of Latasha Crump Coleman , who was last seen on July 18, 2023.

Crump Coleman’s family believes her husband knew something about her disappearance . There was a brawl between her family and the relatives of Coleman in December 2023.

Wade said Coleman was recently released from jail.
