Summer has officially started, as if you couldn't tell by the weather. Large swathes of the United States are already suffering under widespread heatwaves, driving temperatures up into the 90s or even higher, even in regions as far north as New England.

But while most of the country suffered under sweltering heat this week, the situation in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, was a little bit different. On June 17, one Jackson Hole local stepped out of her front door only to be met not with summer sun and sweltering heat, but an inexplicable mid-June blizzard!

Definitely NOT used to this but i was craving christmas lowkey anyway so ill let it slide

The lush green lawn was a dead giveaway of the summer season, but that was the only thing summery in this video. According to "B" (aka @wheelsonthebusss ), it was at least a cool 36 F in Jackson Hole , if not colder, and despite the late date, a light dusting of snow began to fall from the sky, which quickly picked up into a full-blown snowstorm! In the midst of cross-country extreme heatwaves , a mid-June blizzard sounded impossible, even in balmy Wyoming, but the evidence speaks for itself.

While B definitely wasn't used to this unseasonable weather, she "let it slide" because she was craving Christmas anyway- lucky her. Across the United States, fellow hot-weather haters wished they had her luck.

"As an Arizonian I would cry, but I can't cause I sweated out all the water in me that would be used for tears!" @rickis20 (tearlessly) cried.

"It's literally 100 degrees in Boston today," complained @ericasmithman.

"Welp. I'll be moving to Wyoming," @taay2shiestyy declared. At this point, I might just consider a move to Wyoming, too- at least for the summer!

    Starting the Summer With Snow

The summer snow didn't just fall over northwest Wyoming. According to Accuweather , areas throughout the Pacific Northwest and the Rocky Mountains were affected by unseasonably cold temperatures and snow this week. Reportedly, nearly one million residents were under winter weather or frost advisories as of June 17, and over the course of the week, snow fell over parts of Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregon, British Columbia , and Alberta. Some high-elevation areas even reported seeing over a foot of snowfall! Jeez, save some of that cold weather for the rest of us!

While snow can continue to fall over parts of the Rocky Mountains into early June, Accuweather notes that significant snowfall this late into June is much less common. It's no surprise, then, that the unprecedented winter weather didn't stick around for long. A week after B's surprise "Christmas in June" blizzard, the Weather Channel forecast for Jackson Hole predicts highs in the mid-80s and not a single snowflake in sight. Easy come, easy go. As one of the many millions riding out the recent heatwave, I hope some of that last-minute winter weather finds its way to our neck of the woods!
