Jackson Hole, Wyoming has long been famous for its vast, conserved wilderness landscapes, wildlife, outdoor recreation and charming town. In fact, the destination packs so much punch that it can be intimidating to navigate alone. So, on a brilliant Sunday afternoon in late June, a group of 30 lucky Chase United Cardmembers gathered from all over the country for an expertly curated member event based at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole. The one-of-a-kind four-day, three-night outing offered an incredible way to experience all the magic of an alpine summer, plus the ultimate combination of luxury and adventure that has made Jackson so famous.

From the opening event in Teton Village, it was clear this was a going to be a fun group and up for whatever Wyoming had to offer. Fifteen couples gathered on a secluded lawn for cocktails, dinner and to meet other Cardmembers. But before dinner, everyone was treated to a surprise gift: a customized wool felt cowboy hat. After choosing colors and unique hatband trimmings, everyone had the option to have their initials branded onto the hat right on the lawn. It was not only a thoughtful surprise, but also super useful throughout the next few days to boot.

Custom hats in hand, the terrace dinner turned out to be both raucous and sophisticated; the trip began in perfect Wyoming style from the get-go. The group was treated to wine pairings from the Jackson Hole Winery and personal appearances by Four Seasons Executive Chef Michael Goralski. He graciously explained the four-course dinner, culminating in a showcase of local flavors with bison tenderloin pancetta, truffle grits, rosemary kale, and huckleberry sauce, as well as a memorable chocolate Breton crafted especially for the Cardmember dinner by Rhonda Ashton, the hotel’s acclaimed executive pastry chef.

Stunning introduction aside, the star of any trip to Jackson Hole is unquestionably the outdoors. And thanks to the impressively dialed itinerary, guests didn’t have to deal with a single summer adventure logistic. Instead, they could sit back and relax as the best of Jackson Hole was delivered in singular style by the events team.

Time on the river is a quintessential part of summer in Jackson, so it was fitting on day two when, after a leisurely morning, guests boarded a special luxury shuttle to Grand Teton National Park. There, they were treated to a private lunch cookout on the banks of the river and serenaded by a strumming guitar player. The afternoon seamlessly morphed into a scenic river adventure at its best, as experienced, skilled river guides from Triangle X Ranch put even the most nervous Cardmembers at ease before and during the two-and-a-half-hour float down the river.

Pristine surroundings and the glorious Teton Range provided an incomparable backdrop, wowing the group. Most of the Cardmembers had never been to Jackson, and even though everyone has seen the pictures of its famous landscapes, being able to enjoy lunch and float in a private group away from the crowds and amid such natural splendor was a special reward.

The crown jewel of the trip, however, was without question the third day. Guests didn’t even know the full extent of it until late in the evening when all the pieces of the day, from the outdoor adventures with private, expert guides; local culture; cuisine; and music finally fell into place. In the morning, half the group chose to hop on a guided e-bike outing in an exploration of the beautiful pathways in Grand Teton National Park. Also on tap was a fly-fishing lesson with the Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School, which encompassed more than fishing. Upon arrival, the fishing guides presented a truly fascinating lesson in local entomology, responsible angling and ethics. After casting practice on the shore, Cardmembers gamely donned waders to put their new skills to the test.

A final private, off-property dinner accessed via horse-drawn wagons seemed like a perfect way to end the trip. After a 10-minute wagon ride, everyone alighted on the historic Snake River Ranch, tucked between the river and the mountains. Around the field was an amazing selection of stations, including a local wrangler teaching guests how to throw a rope around stationary plastic cows; a well-known Jackson artist, Lyndsay Rowan, reading Cardmembers’ animal totems and handing out beautiful art cards as a gift to take home; a tasting station with locally brewed beers and sausages—all representing the best of the valley.

For this trip, it was par for the course that the evening kept getting better to the unending delight of all the guests. After dinner, a campfire was lit, and local music star Judd Grossman arrived with his guitar and a fiddler to accompany him for a private, fireside music session. Everyone gathered and stayed until all the stars were out, laughing and joking like a troop of old-school chums, despite hailing from different homes, backgrounds, age groups and showing up in Wyoming as strangers just three days before. Cardmembers marveled over how perfectly tailored the trip was, the friends made and the good times had, and the many unique and special experiences that came from the one common denominator of a Chase United card.
