The Commanders have released kicker Brandon McManus.

The team announced the move Sunday evening, just under a week after a lawsuit alleging the kicker sexually assaulted two flight attendants on a Jaguars team flight to London in 2023 became public.

Washington, when the lawsuit became public, announced they were aware and would conduct an investigation, but there was no further comment or announcement beyond the release when that was made official on Sunday.

McManus, who has denied wrongdoing, has been accused by two flight attendants of sexual misconduct on the team plane for a London game last year, a suit that lead counsel Tony Buzbee explained in part with the Sports Junkies last week.

There is, as mentioned, no public knowledge of any of the Commanders’ internal investigations or conclusions, but Pro Football Talk did offer one interesting note: Atlas Air Worldwide, the company that the Jaguars used to fly to London, is owned by Apollo Global Management, which was co-founded by Commanders owner Josh Harris – perhaps meaning some inside intel was gleaned from those business connections to lead to the team’s decision to release McManus.

The Commanders had signed McManus, who spent 10 years in Denver before moving to Jacksonville in 2023, to a one-year deal this offseason to replace Joey Slye, but they will now move into the final OTA sessions without a kicker on the roster.
