The Miami Hurricanes are wasting no time making Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star cornerback Brody Jennings feels like a priority target in the 2026 class. After offering the coveted defensive back, the Canes staff has been in consistent communication with Jennings, who is loving the Hurricanes early on.
“The relationship is going well, and they’re showing me mad love,” Jennings told CaneSport. “They make me feel like a top priority, and I will be down there later this summer. Talking to coach Mike Rumph and coach Chevis Jackson makes me feel like a priority, and they want me really bad. Overall the relationship is really good.”
Although Jennings may reside in Duval County, he calls South Florida his second home and has deep ties to the Miami area. Jennings is also well-versed in Hurricanes history and believes the best defensive backs have come from Miami over the years.
“They have a great history,” Jennings said. “They’ve had a lot of defensive backs that came from there who are in the NFL doing great. They are the real DB U, in my opinion. My parents are from Miami, so that’s like a second home for me as well.”
Along with Miami, programs like Florida, Michigan, Virginia Tech, and Maryland are high up as well. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, the 6-foot-1, 165 pounder is the No. 272 overall prospect in the 2026 class and the No. 20 cornerback.
“I really focus on coaching,” Jennings said when asked what he looks at the most in a program “Which coach can get me to play at the best of my ability. Hard coaching that can get me better, and really, who can make me the best me on and off the field.”
Jennings is planning on visiting Miami later this summer. When down on campus, he hopes to strengthen his bond with the Hurricanes staff, specifically Canes head coach Mario Cristobal .
“They really checked all my boxes,” Jennings said. “I just want to talk to the head coach a little bit more.”
CaneSport’s take
With his ties to Miami, Jennings is extremely high on the Hurricanes and feels wanted in Coral Gables. As a sophomore, Jennings finished his season with 33 tackles, five pass deflections, and one interception while attending Sandalwood High School. Now at Mandarin High School, it will be intriguing to see if Jennings continues to shine at one of the top programs in the Sunshine State.
