Analyst Has Positive Take on Jacksonville Jaguars Heading into 2024

The 2023 season ended disappointingly for the Jacksonville Jaguars. For how thrilling their climb up the standings was in 2022, their plummet was on the opposite end of the spectrum.

An 8-3 start had the Jacksonville Jaguars in the driver’s seat for not only the AFC South title but a chance at home field in the playoffs. Unfortunately, injuries became too much for the team to overcome.

They would finish the regular season losing five out of six games, finishing 9-8 and missing the postseason altogether. The Houston Texans, led by rookie phenoms quarterback C.J. Stroud and edge rusher Will Anderson Jr., jumped them in the standings for the division crown.

Heading into 2024, all of the hype is surrounding the Texans once again. Given how affordable their franchise pillars are, they were able to spend in free agency to load up the rest of the roster.

Wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon were acquired in trades. Danielle Hunter was signed in free agency to bookend Anderson rushing the passer.

There is a lot to like when it comes to Houston’s outlook in 2024 and beyond. But, the Jacksonville Jaguars aren’t going away any time soon.

With some better injury luck, they will be right in the mix again in the AFC for a playoff spot. As we approach training camp in less than two weeks, the Jacksonville Jaguars are an underrated team in the opinion of James Dator .

“The additions of Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas Jr. more than make up for losing Calvin Ridley in free agency. It spreads the team’s offensive weapons around, which is what Trevor Lawrence excels at with his ability to read a full field and find an open man, rather than forcing the ball to a bellcow.

Houston should be the favorites to win the AFC South after their astounding 2023 season, but based on the numbers people are really sleeping on the Jaguars’ chances this season,” Dator wrote.

Needing help along the offensive line, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Mitch Morse to man the pivot at center. Ryan Nielsen was also brought on as defensive coordinator, which should help get that unit back on track.

The Texans are garnering all of the attention and headlines, but the Jacksonville Jaguars quietly improved this offseason as well. This will not be as much of a runaway race as some people believe it will be.
