The Jacksonville Jaguars will lose a notable offensive lineman to retirement soon.
According to Ryan Green of 1010XL, offensive lineman Tyler Shatley will retire after the upcoming season.
That’s notable for a few reasons, chief among them being that he inked a one-year deal with the Jaguars in April to confirm his 11th season with the franchise.
When the Jaguars and Shatley struck that deal back in April, he returned as the team’s longest-tenured player. Impressively, the 32-year-old lineman initially joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He’s since appeared in 145 games, putting him near the likes of kicker Josh Scobee (168) on the all-time franchise list.
Last summer, Shatley missed some training camp due to Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). This early training camp news is notable after a rash of injuries of an unknown variety hit the interior of the offensive line in front of Trevor Lawrence in recent practices, including guys like Ezra Cleveland limping off.
Shatley, alongside free-agent arrival Mitch Morse and fourth-round rookie Luke Fortner, make up the key depth on the interior for the Jaguars.
This news follows a notable training camp roster move for the Jaguars.
