    UPDATE: Suspect ID’d after woman found dead in Jacksonville

    JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — After a woman was found dead in a car early Monday, the Jacksonville Police Department has named the suspect in custody.

    43-year-old Joshua E. Jones was found at the scene and taken to the Morgan County Jail on suspicion of homicide. Police said he knew the woman, and was hiding in bushes near the scene.

    JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Jacksonville Police Department is investigating after a woman was found dead in a car overnight. One person is in custody.

    Department officials said officers were dispatched to the area of Beecher Avenue and Sandy Street for what they called a “disturbance.” Upon arriving, officers searched the area and found a woman dead. The death is being investigated as a homicide.

    Officials added that they found a man hiding in the bushes close to where the woman was found. He knew the woman, they said, and was taken into custody there.

    The woman’s identity is being withheld at this time until her family is notified. The investigation is being performed by Jacksonville Police, the Illinois State Police, the Morgan County Coroner’s and State’s Attorney’s Offices.
