Mccain Fire Update
The Mccain Fire has been 70 percent contained. The fire, near Jacumba, started Monday afternoon when a car crashed and burned setting the brush on fire. As of Wednesday evening nearly 1,600 acres had been burned. According to CalFire, there have been no structures damaged but there has been one confirmed injury. Evacuation orders for a nearby resort were lifted Tuesday.

Mccain Fire Continues to Burn
A brush fire that was started Monday afternoon by a car accident continues to burn. The Mccain Fire had scorched nearly 1,400 acres by late Tuesday afternoon. The fire is burning in dense brush north of Interstate 8, near the eastern San Diego community of Jacumba. According to CalFire, there are 223 personnel battling the blaze with 4 helicopters, 14 engines, 2 dozers, 2 water tenders and assorted other equipment. As of late Tuesday the fire was 30 percent contained. Evacuation orders had been issued for a number of nearby resident but have since been lifted. No structures have been damaged or destroyed but there was one reported injury. CalFire was hopeful that cooler temperatures and lighter winds would allow crews to make progress against the fire overnight.
