Reminder: Free Concert Tomorrow at Greene County High School Auditorium
A reminder that a free concert is being held tomorrow in Jefferson. The Brown Family is from LeMars, Iowa and the award winning ensemble is going to perform a free show at the Greene County High School auditorium Sunday at 2pm. The show will be the “Americana Music and Patriotic Salute.” The event is sponsored by the Greene County Veterans Affairs Office and the Greene County Veterans Commission.
Katie and Guy Richardson Selected as July Yard of the Month
The Jefferson Garden Club has announced its next Yard of the Month. Katie and Guy Richardson’s home at 608 South Chestnut Street is July’s honoree. In the front part of the lot are large beds of roses, miniature boxwoods, day lilies and hostas that were planted over 15 years ago. There are also corner pillars that have geraniums, and shrubs surround the front porch of the home that was built in 1912.
Second Day of All Class Reunion Tomorrow
Tomorrow is the second day of the All Class Reunion in Guthrie Center. Class pictures and displays will be available for viewing from 9am to 4pm on, with the parade to start at 10am. Art on State Street will have an artist spotlight from 11am to 1pm, with a presentation from Don Todd during the same time frame at the Mary J Barnett Memorial Library. A petting zoo will open at the fairgrounds from 11am to 1pm, with a bags tournament beginning at noon, and a concert by Wyatt Sheeder taking place at the Methodist Church beginning at 2pm.
Perry Library Inviting Teens for Amazing Race Tomorrow
The Perry Public Library is emulating a fun television show for a teen program tomorrow. The library announces that they will be holding a Teen Amazing Race Challenge happening tomorrow from 3-4pm. Public Services Librarian Kayla Rothmeyer tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the inspiration derives from the popular tv show.
Perry Parks & Rec Hiring Lifeguards for the Summer
The Perry Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteers to help with the pool this summer. The organization is asking for employees to be part time lifeguards. The Perry Parks & Rec outlines that participants must be at least 15 years old by July 31st, and have to pass a swim test. The test consists of 300 meters of either freestyle or breaststroke, being able to tread water for two minutes, and a brick retrieval.

A free concert with a well-known traveling family band is coming to Jefferson on Sunday. The Brown Family is from LeMars, Iowa and the award winning ensemble is going to perform a free show at the Greene County High School auditorium Sunday at 2pm. The show will be the “Americana Music and Patriotic Salute.” The event is sponsored by the Greene County Veterans Affairs Office and the Greene County Veterans Commission, which received a $10,000 grant from the local allocation from the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs, that is used for outreach events and training, as well as operational expenses for the county veterans affairs offices.
