August 10 is National Smores Day. S'mores are a delicious treat with an interesting history. San Francisco has restaurants that celebrate it and have unique ways of serving it that are popular today.

Even though the ingredients had long been created, the first official smores recipe was in a handbook by the Girl Scouts of America called “Tramping & Trailing With the Girlscouts." The word tramping may shock some, but for this meaning, it means to walk continuously on a journey or to go from place to place suddenly.

S'mores are a summertime classic and a staple for outdoor parties, camping, or being at the beach. There are several ways to make them, and some restaurants have taken it to the next level.

    1. Camptoasted: https://www.camptoasted.com/welcome

If you want to take s'mores to an incredible level, call www.camptoasted.com. These are two van-life people who started a business to share their talents, and they have amazing products.

    2. Dandelions: https://www.dandelionchocolate.com/pages/16th-street-factory

You can get some amazing s'mores in San Francisco at Dandelions, which has various outlets. With delicious chocolate and pillows of marshmallow, it's hard not to be wowed by this delicious yet simple treat. They have every type of marshmallow, chocolate chip cookies, pretzels, fried chicken and maple syrup, cookie dough, brittle, oreos, nutella, and oreos. You can contact them and have them come to your party, beach outing, or outdoor fun.

    3. The Fillmore Bake Shop: https://fillmorebakeshop.com/cookies/

Although they have incredible bakery items, the s'mores bar takes it to another level. With a crispy Graham cracker crust and layers of dark chocolate topped with toasted marshmallows, it's hard to say no to this smore.

Here is an easy S'mores recipe for camping or air-frying!

    Ingredients:

    For campfire:

    4 whole Graham crackers

    4 marshmallows

4 pieces of chocolate (such as Hershey's)

    For air fryers:

    4 whole Graham crackers

    2 marshmallows

4 pieces of chocolate (such as Hershey's)

    For campfire:

      1. Break all Graham crackers in half to create 8 squares. Place one square of chocolate on four Graham squares.
      2. Place marshmallows on a skewer or marshmallow roasting stick. Roast over an open flame or grill until toasted to your preference.
      3. Transfer marshmallows onto a Graham cracker with chocolate, then top with a second Graham cracker square.

    For air fryers:

      1. Break all Graham crackers in half to create 8 squares. Cut marshmallows in half crosswise with a pair of scissors.
      2. Place marshmallows, cut side down, on 4 Graham squares. Place marshmallow side up in the basket of the air fryer and cook at 390° for 3 to 4 minutes, or until golden.
      3. Remove from the air fryer, place a piece of chocolate and a Graham square on top of each toasted marshmallow, and serve.
