Iowa Teen Caught Going Over 120 mph On a Suspended License
An Iowa teenager landed in the hottest of waters after being caught going well over 100 mph near Ottumwa. The kicker? He was driving on a suspended license. The Iowa State Patrol are hoping this serves as a reminder for parents to talk to their children who are just starting to drive or are actively learning the Rules of the Road about the dangers of excessive speed.
Tractor Show Comes to Waverly
The Waverly Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce. plans for a Tractor Show as part of this year’s Fall Harvest Festival on September 21st. However, we need the community’s help to make this event a reality. We are reaching out to tractor enthusiasts both near and far to bring their tractors—new or vintage—to downtown Waverly for this unique showcase. This is a wonderful opportunity to display your tractors in front of a supportive and enthusiastic community. The Tractor Show is planned to run from 9 AM to 1PM, and participation is completely free.
Dubuque man attempts to fire gun during arrest
Police said a Dubuque man attempted to fire a weapon while he was being placed under arrest. 28-year-old Kentrell V. Powell of Dubuque was arrested at 10:58 p.m. Thursday on charges of interference with official acts with a firearm, assault on persons in certain occupations with use or display of a weapon, fifth-degree theft, control of a firearm by a felon and public intoxication. Court documents state that an officer responded at about 10:20 p.m. Thursday to Casey’s General Store on Peru Road, for a report of a theft that turned into a disturbance. After officers arrived on the scene, Powell ignored commands to stop walking away and was placed under arrest, documents state. An officer noted that Powell’s speech was slurred and that he was unsteady while walking. Police searched Powell while he was in handcuffs. Powell started to lean back excessively as if he were “trying to reach down his backside,” documents state. Police body camera footage picked up a “snap” “similar to a handgun hammer dropping,” and officers retrieved a gun from Powell’s person.

Eastern Iowa Restaurant Re-Opens Under New Owners
An Eastern Iowa restaurant open since the 1980s is now under new ownership, and is back open with a new menu and a new look!. The Pizza Place in Center Point, Iowa opened in 1982. The restaurant was owned for years by Cindy and Dave Krumm. They were known for their great pizzas, especially the homemade crust recipe. The pizza and the crust recipe remain but The Pizza Place is now owned and run by Allison and Craig Sorensen. After taking over the restaurant, they closed down for a short time to freshen up the interior and the menu too.
