    Firecracker Fourth. Independence Day events in Janesville and the surrounding area

    A host of area Fourth of July events are scheduled in Janesville and surrounding communities in the coming week. A look at some of the holiday activities:

    The Patriotic Concert

    The Badger Chordhawks Chorus will present “The Patriotic Concert,” a musical tribute to service people, with several concerts over the course of the week. Opera singer Christopher Aaron Smith, composer and arranger Cody Linder and pianist Sylvia O’Connor are part of the concert.

    Performances are at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, at the Edgerton Performing Arts Center, 200 Elm High Dr., Edgerton; at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 30, at First Congregational Church, 801 Bushnell St., Beloit; at 6 p.m., Monday, July 1, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 409 E. Court St., in Janesville; and at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Lake Leota Park in Evansville. More information is at www.patrioticconcert.com.

    Janesville

    The Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show Team’s “Star Spangled Saturday” is from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Traxler Park, 600 N. Main St., in Janesville. There will be food trucks, kids’ games, a beer tent, pontoon boat rides, live music and fireworks at dusk over the Rock River. Due to high water conditions, the Rock Aqua Jays will not perform this year. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit Rock County Veterans Services. More information is at www.rockaquajays.com.

    Beloit

    The Beloit patriotic concert and fireworks display will be held on July 4 at Riverside Park, 1160 Riverside Drive.

    The Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Harry Moore Pavilion starting at 7:30 p.m. There will be food trucks and vendors at the park offering food and drinks. A fireworks display will begin at dusk with musical accompaniment by the orchestra. The Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation is leading the fundraising effort for the fireworks display.

    Milton

    Most Fourth of July activities in Milton will take place at Schilberg Park, 301 W. High St., The festivities kick off on Wednesday, July 3 and run through Sunday, July 7.

    The traditional 4th of July Parade will take place beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. Rhythm & Booms fireworks begins at dusk on July 4. There’s also a carnival, a mobile splash pad, a motorcycle stunt show and baseball. More information is at milton4thofjuly.com

    Evansville

    Evansville will celebrate the holiday at Lake Leota Park July 4-7. Thursday, July 4 begins with a 7:30 a.m. run/walk followed by a 9:45 a.m. kiddie parade, a 10 a.m. parade, the Evansville Lions Club’s chicken BBQ, live music and fireworks at dusk.     Whitewater

    Downtown Whitewater, Inc. is hosting its Fourth of July Festival at Cravath Lakefront Park, 341 S. Fremont St., July 3-6. It includes a carnival, a Miss Whitewater pageant, food vendors, and live music all week long. There’s a parade at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, and fireworks at dusk on Thursday.     Edgerton

    The Edgerton Lions Fireworks Festival is Wednesday, July 3, from 4 p.m. to midnight at Racetrack Park, 900 Stoughton Road, Edgerton. It includes live music, games, a petting zoo, chicken BINGO, food and beverages, fireworks at dusk, and a firecracker raffle. More information is at visitedgertonwi.com.

    Brodhead

    The Brodhead Family Fest is Saturday, June 29 in Putnam Park, 1108 Fourth St. A Family Fest Parade will begin at 11 a.m. and the Family Fest Celebration will begin at noon in Putnam Park, featuring games, bounce houses, food vendors and a DJ. A fireworks display will be at dusk.

    Delavan

    A pancake breakfast to benefit the Delavan Fire Department will be held on the morning of July 4 at the fire station, 811 Ann St. At 3 p.m. the Delavan July 4 parade will kick off on Walworth Avenue. From 4 — 8 p.m., a concert will be held at Phoenix Park, 111 E. Wisconsin St. At dusk, a fireworks display will be featured at Congdon Park.

    Elkhorn

    A community fireworks display will take place at dusk on June 28 at Sunset Park, 200 Devendorf St.
