1940-2024 - Rudolph Ambrose Mundy was born December 28, 1940 to Ray and Martina Mundy in Jasper, Indiana and passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2023 at home. He was raised with his four sisters, Shirley, Virginia, Sarah and Janice in a home filled with love and laughter that was especially grounded in a strong Catholic faith. They were all taught the value and importance of hard work, family and faith.

Rudy graduated from Jasper High School in 1958 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in November of that year. He undertook his basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX and then finished his advanced training in cryptographic communications at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX. Upon completion of his training he was posted to Kadena AFB in Okinawa, Japan. He served a year there and then was sent to a small radar site in Condon, Oregon. It was there that he met his future wife, Martha Tierney on May 4, 1962. During the next four years she attended the University of Portland while he finished his time in Condon and then deployed to Da Nang, Republic of Vietnam where he served a year from 1964 to 1965.

When he returned, he was posted to Adair AFB near Corvallis, OR. Rudy and Martha were engaged and were married a year later on August 27, 1966. Rudy enrolled at Oregon State University and graduated in 1969 with a degree in Education. Their first son, Pat, was born in Corvallis in 1969.

Rudy started teaching science and math at Waluga Jr. High School in Lake Oswego, OR in the fall of 1969. Their second son, Chris, was born in Portland in 1971.

Later, after earning a Masters Degree, he became a counselor at Waluga Jr. High School. From 1977 to 1983, he served as Vice Principal and later as Principal of Lake Oswego Jr. High School. He finished his career in education as Principal at Waluga Jr. High from 1991-1999.

Rudy was known for his infectious sense of humor, which he used to enrich or defuse many situations. He enjoyed music, fishing, hunting, golf, bowling and spending time with his sons, their wives, his grandchildren, sisters, extended family and friends.

Rudy was active in his church, St. John the Apostle in Oregon City, OR and in community activities both in Lake Oswego and West Linn, OR, where he and Martha lived. He also spent considerable time in Condon, OR with his family and close friends.

He was a loyal and devoted husband, father and friend. Whether West Linn, Lake Oswego, Jasper or Condon, it was his friends and family who enriched his life.

Rudy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha; son Pat (Anja) and their children Ava and Luke of Canby, OR; son Chris (Sarah) and their sons Joe and Nate of Terrebonne, OR; sisters Janice Hurst of Ireland, IN; Shirley (Beckman) Weidenbenner of Jasper, IN; Sarah Bartley of Jasper, IN; and Virginia Schepers of Jasper, IN.

Funeral Mass will be held June 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City, preceded by the Funeral Rosary at 10:30 AM. Graveside service will be at Condon, Oregon at 11:00 AM on June 12, 2024.
