Essex police investigating assault on officer
ESSEX, Vt. (WCAX) - Authorities are looking for two people who they say injured an Essex police officer early Monday morning. Essex police say the officer was investigating possible drug activity in a parking lot at Susan’s Place, a housing complex off Susie Wilson Road. When officers arrived, police say they tried to detain a man and woman, later identified as Mark Edward Sutton Jr., 24, of Williamstown, and Jasmine Brown, 21, of Randolph. Police say both resisted arrest, with Sutton aggressively pulling away and Brown kicking the officer in the groin. Police say Sutton then pinned the officer with his car as he fled the scene. Brown was also able to escape on foot.

SUNY Oneonta to help develop fire-safe battery technology
ALBANY, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Wednesday, July 24 that a local college will be helping develop new innovations in battery technology. SUNY Oneonta will be one of two places in New York State to receive funding from the United States Department of Energy (DOE) for a long-duration energy storage project using fire-safe battery technology. According to the governor’s office, the technology will be able to be used in urban and rural places and demonstrate a stable energy supply during periods of high demand and extreme weather conditions.
