Colorado is in for a temperature rollercoaster for the 4th of July holiday weekend. Comfortable temperatures Friday will be replaced by a day of heat on Saturday, and a day of cooler weather on Sunday. High temperatures will be in the upper 80's/low 90's Saturday along the Front Range including many neighborhoods in Jefferson County. The sun will be out in full force with dry conditions across I-25. A cold front arrives Sunday, bringing cooler temperatures and increased rain chances (50%). Highs will be in the mid-70s on Sunday, about 15 degrees below average.

Aurora man drowns in South Platte River
A 57-year-old man from Aurora, Jorge Ramirez-Flores, drowned in the South Platte River on July 4, according to a social media post from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Ramirez-Flores was celebrating the holiday with family at the river near Deckers. He was walking on the rocks at the river when he lost his balance and fell into the water. A family member tried to grab him but could not because of the fast-moving current. Ramirez-Flores floated about two miles downstream to the Gaskill Bridge. Some unidentified citizens pulled him out of the water, but he was unresponsive. They attempted resuscitation until North Fork Fire arrived and took over, but were sadly unsuccessful. Aurora man drowns in S. Platte River after falling into water
A man from Aurora drowned after he fell into the South Platte River while celebrating the Fourth of July with his family. It happened near Deckers on Thursday afternoon. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Jorge Ramirez-Flores, 57, was celebrating the holiday with his family when he lost his balance while walking on the rocks. He fell into the water.A family member tried to grab him but he was unable to do so in the fast-moving current. Ramirez-Flores quickly went downstream about two miles to the Gaskill Bridge, where unidentified citizens saw his body and pulled him out of the water but he was unresponsive. They tried to save him with resuscitation efforts until North Fork Fire arrived and took over. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful.
First human case of tularemia found in Jeffco
Jefferson County Public Health announced that the first case of tularemia has been found in a Wheat Ridge resident.JCPH describes tularemia as a bacterial disease that is associated with animals such as rodents and rabbits, along with insects, ticks and deerflies. "While tularemia is rare, it is important for residents to be aware of the symptoms and take preventive measures," said Rachel Reichardt, environmental health specialist with Jefferson County Public Health. "Prompt treatment with antibiotics is effective, so early diagnosis and medical attention are crucial." Symptoms of tularemia include fever, non-healing skin ulcer at the site of infection and swollen and painful lymph glands. Sore throat, mouth sores, abdominal pain and diarrhea can be symptoms if the infection is caused by ingesting contaminated food or water. Health officials say tularemia can be cured and to see a physician if you experience any symptoms associated with the infection after being in areas where contact with wildlife is possible.
