Jefferson County Fair Concludes This Weekend
Fair season is already underway in southeast Iowa as the Greater Jefferson County Fair wraps up this weekend. The last five days have seen non-stop animal shows, live performances, food, and games at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Fairfield. Residents and guests of the area are encouraged to stop by, with two full days of fun still remaining.

FAIRFIELD – The Jefferson County Fairgrounds are alive with the sound of cattle mooing, pigs oinking and sheep bleating. The area’s youth have brought their animals and exhibits to show at the Greater Jefferson County Fair, and on Wednesday morning they were busy making some of the final preparations before their 4-H and FFA shows.
Greater Jefferson County Fair gets underway with Monday’s parade
The Greater Jefferson County Fair kicked off Monday night with the fair parade from Fairfield High School to the city’s downtown. Local businesses and organizations made floats for the occasion, and they were joined by drivers of antique tractors and horseback riders. Children left the parade with enough candy to last them through the end of the fair, which runs until Sunday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

Brighton Meat Locker debuts retail showroom
BRIGHTON – The Brighton Meat Locker has been remodeled, with a new retail outlet inside to sell local meat and cooking accessories. The business is located at 205 E. Washington St. in Brighton, and was purchased by a group of new owners two years ago: Jake Louth, Dan Delaney and Adam Ledger, all of whom happen to be beef producers and members of Jefferson County Cattlemen.
