West Des Moines Man Sentenced to Prison for 2023 Incident in Jefferson
A West Des Moines man was sentenced to prison following an incident in Greene County. According to court documents, 36-year-old Austin Hill pled guilty to a lesser charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree conspiracy to commit fraudulent practices. He was sentenced to two years in prison, which was to run consecutively with two unrelated cases in Adams and Marshall counties.
Dallas County Sheriff’s Office & Dispatchers Granted IA Medal of Merit
A couple of prestigious figures in Dallas County are being recognized for their efforts during the January 4th shooting at Perry High School. Iowa’s Third District Congressman Zach Nunn recently took time to honor the men and women serving on the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and 911 Dispatchers who stepped in during the tragedy, which killed longtime Perry High School Principal Dan Marburger and sixth grader Ahmir Jolliff.
Perry Police Chief Recommends Locking Vehicles Even in Small Towns
July is National Vehicle Theft Prevention Month, and a member from the Perry Police Department discusses the importance of locking vehicles. Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn tells Raccoon Valley Radio that people can have misconceptions of small towns being safer. He emphasizes that some individuals take advantage of the “small town niceness” of residents leaving vehicles unlocked. Vaughn illustrates that people should remove keys from the engine and hide any valuables laying around.
