Jefferson’s Ferry Life Plan Community

Robert E. Caulfield is widely recognized for his leadership of Jefferson’s Ferry Life Plan community and his advocacy for the aging services industry.

Recently, Jefferson’s Ferry cut the ribbon on The Grove, an innovative memory support neighborhood in a homelike community setting. In 2023, Jefferson’s Ferry celebrated the significant renovation of its Community Center restaurants and Health and Wellness Commons building. Both projects are part of Jefferson’s Ferry’s “Journey Toward Renewal,” a strategic campus-wide redevelopment project to meet the burgeoning need for senior housing with 60 new apartments, dining venues, fitness center, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation suite and expanded health center services.

Caulfield has guided Jefferson’s Ferry through great change and challenge. He began serving on the organization’s development team in 1999, then as a consultant, chief financial officer and chief operations officer before moving up to his current role in 2014.

Caulfield’s leadership has contributed to Jefferson’s Ferry’s outstanding industry ratings and resident satisfaction. Jefferson’s Ferry has repeatedly earned the industrywide Community Choice Award for resident satisfaction and engagement, Pinnacle Quality Insight’s Customer Experience Award and a BBB bond rating from FitchRatings. Its Vincent Bove Health Center maintains a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and was named a “Best Of” nursing home by U.S. News & World Report. Jefferson’s Ferry has consistently been voted Best Retirement Community, Best Nursing Home and Best Assisted Living by the Long Island Press and was recognized for excellence by HIA-LI.

Caulfield serves on the board of directors and in other leadership roles for LeadingAge New York.
