‘Throwback player’ DeSean Bishop heeds ‘wake-up call’ to seize chance in Vols backfield
There was a real shock to the system for DeSean Bishop this time a year ago when the. running back lost his freshman season to an injury before it even started. He had proven to be remarkably durable during a prolific prep career at Knoxville-area Karns High School, where he totaled more than 1,000 carries in his sophomore, junior and senior seasons and finished as the No. 2 rusher (8,347 yards) and No. 3 rushing-scorer (102 touchdowns) in Tennessee high school football history. Bishop now looks back on his season-ending ankle injury in a preseason scrimmage in 2023 as a “wake-up call” that has fueled his emergence this offseason, which has seen him provide an answer for the Vols in their new-look backfield.
Memphis Area Under Heat Advisory, NWS Warns of Heat Index Up to 106 Degrees
Residents across the Memphis area need to prepare for sweltering temperatures as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory in effect today from 11 AM to 9 PM CDT. According to the NWS report, the advisory covers several counties in East Arkansas, North Mississippi, Southeast Missouri, and West Tennessee, where heat index values are expected to reach up to 106 degrees.

Tennessee lands commitment from top OT in 2025 recruiting class
The nation’s top offensive tackle, and third overall player, in the 2025 recruiting class has committed to the Tennessee Volunteers. David Sanders Jr. is from North Carolina, but will be heading to Knoxville to play for Josh Heupel in Neyland Stadium. Landing Sanders’s commitment is a great way to keep the ball rolling when looking ahead to the 2025 class. The Vols currently have 25 commits with Sanders being the highest-rated. In fact, Sanders is the highest-ranked Tennessee commit in the Heupel era. While this big win deserves recognition, the Vols are still looking to add talent via the recruiting trail and transfer portal, as they go head-to-head with other college football elites and in-conference foes like the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Beacon Center files lawsuit against exempt employee salary threshold change
(The Center Square) – Beacon Center has filed a lawsuit, on behalf of the Association of Christian Schools International, to fight a new U.S. Department of Labor overtime rule that would require anyone making less than $58,000 per year as an hourly, non-exempt employee.
