Hudsonville woman who ordered dog to bite man gets jail time, probation
HUDSONVILLE — A local woman received jail time and probation after pleading no contest to aggravated domestic assault for allegedly ordering her dog to bite a man in May. Augustina Villarreal, 37, of Hudsonville, was sentenced to 75 days in the Ottawa County Jail and will serve 12 months' probation. Villarreal was sentenced Tuesday, July 2, in 58th District Court before Judge Judith Mulder.

OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 3, 2024) – For the second time in six days, a sheriff’s deputy in Michigan will be laid to rest. Funeral services for William “Bill” Butler Jr. will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Hillsdale College Christ Chapel. The 51-year-old Hillsdale County deputy died after being shot by a suspect last Thursday. The suspect, 34-year-old Eric Fiddler of Jonesville, who had been wanted on several warrants, died in a shootout with police about four hours later. It’s the first time since 1930 a Hillsdale County police officer has died in the line of duty.
Motorist Hospitalized After Fiery Crash North of Zeeland
BLENDON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 4, 2024) – A 19-year-old Hudsonville man was hospitalized after a fiery single-vehicle crash north of Zeeland late on Wednesday night. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, deputies and other first responders were dispatched around 11:45 PM to the area of 96th Avenue near Bingham Street on a report of a sedan that had rolled over and was ablaze.
