Jersey City Medical Center Joins Forces with ‘I Love Greenville’ to present its Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Jersey City Medical Center, a facility of RWJBarnabas Health, is holding its annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway event in collaboration with local organizations I Love Greenville, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Union, and Hudson Counties and Whole Foods Market. The annual event provides essential school supplies – including a backpack -- to children in Hudson County free of charge to ensure that they are well prepared for the upcoming academic year.
The Backpack Giveaway will take place on Wednesday, August 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Medical Center’s Greenville location at 1825 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City. In case of rain or other inclement weather, the event will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 11 a.m.
“At Jersey City Medical Center, improving the lives of those in our community extends beyond medical care, and with the unwavering support from I Love Greenville, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Whole Foods Market, we will continue to make a profound impact on the lives of Jersey City residents,” said Michael Prilutsky, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jersey City Medical Center.
At the Backpack Giveaway event, representatives from Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Essex, Union, and Hudson Counties will assist with distributing supplies and sharing valuable information with community members regarding their mentorship program. Whole Foods Market and the Medical Center’s Green Apple Rx Food FARMacy will distribute free food to promote wholesome eating and nutrition.
The event will also have available information and resources for participants to learn about the health and wellness programs available at Jersey City Medical Center, from primary care to infectious disease services to behavioral health programs.
“Jersey City Medical Center’s history is built upon community service, and again this year, the Backpack giveaway is our contribution to ensure that Hudson County’s young people have all that they need to succeed,” said Whitney Bracco, Assistant Vice President of Hospital Outpatient Services and Social Impact Programs. “We are so grateful for the generosity and support of our community partners, who made this event possible again this year.”
