Mayor Bowser hosts back-to-school pep rally for D.C. educators
As summer comes to a close and the new school year approaches, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) Chancellor Lewis D. Ferebee held a back-to-school pep rally for District educators on Aug. 19. The event preceded a week-long professional development series that D.C. teachers will participate in ahead of the start of school on Aug. 26.

The Washington Spirit are back and here’s what you missed on Glee…. After a break of what’s felt like 84 years (which in reality was 50 days), the Washington Spirit play NWSL regular season soccer games again. In fact, their first is a home game, so they’ll be right back at Audi Field again. That game will kickoff at noon, because it’s the first of a doubleheader. The second match is a preseason London derby in Washington, D.C., between Chelsea and Arsenal. It’s really cool that this is happening and this writer’s opinion is that you should plan to spend the majority of your day at Audi and thank me later.

Baltimore Father Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter in Toddler's Fatal Shooting, Sentenced to 20 Years
A harrowing legal conclusion has been reached in the case of a Baltimore father whose child tragically died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Christopher Gamble has pled guilty to manslaughter and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime, as reported by FOX Baltimore.
