DALLAS — Greater Wyoming Area was finally able to make a lead stick Monday. GWA twice took the lead only for Back Mountain American to answer. A bases-loaded walk by Brayden Snyder in the fifth and an RBI single by Kyle Lazarowicz in the sixth proved to be the difference as GWA defeated American 7-5 in the final game of pool play in the District 31 Major Baseball tournament.
Bright Lights: Tully Shines, But RailRiders Fall 4-2
ALLENTOWN, PA (July 3) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders dropped 4-2 to Lehigh Valley in the day contest of a split doubleheader. The RailRiders worked their way back to tie the game in the sixth, but a walk-off homer from Buddy Kennedy ended the contest. Erica Haefele Joins Lady Royals’ Coaching Staff
Erica Haefele has joined The University of Scranton women’s basketball coaching staff as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the 2024-25 season as recently announced by head coach Ben O’Brien. Haefele’s previous coaching experience includes serving as an assistant coach for the NEPA Elite AAU program over the last four seasons. The Dickson City, Pa., native spent her playing days as a guard at Misericordia where she appeared in 94 games (50 starts) over four seasons and served as a three-time captain for the Cougars. 'Big team effort:' West Scranton Youth Center to provide free arts, wrestling programs
The vibrant mural on the outside of the West Scranton Youth Center depicts the enrichment that will take place inside. Doug and Laura Boyle purchased the building roughly two years ago. Doug is board president of the West Scranton Wrestling Alumni Association (WSWAA) and Laura founded the Youth Arts Coalition (YAC). Both entities will share the space to provide athletic and arts programs for area children and teens.
