A Central Florida mansion that was once owned by Khalil Bin Laden, the brother of Al-Qaeda’s co-founder and terrorist, Osama Bin Laden, is undergoing demolition.

The home has changed owners several times over the years and it used to belong to the family that created Tupperware and a creator of Jello.

The Oakland mansion, just off West Colonial Drive near Clermont, was purchased by Khalil Bin Laden in the 1980s. They left their vacation spot shortly after the 9/11 attacks.

Since leaving, the home has changed ownership, sat empty, and has been abandoned for years. The home was last sold in 2021 to an LLC, who filed a notice in January to make “improvements” to the property, including demolition.

It sits on 17 acres of land, right on the water.

According to county records and the principal at Cornerstone Group, the owners of the LLC, developers are planning to build a 242-unit apartment complex at the site.

The complex is planned to feature two main apartment buildings — both three stories tall — with access to Orange Avenue and State Road 50.

While demolition is already underway, buildout on the project is estimated to begin in 2025.
