Last week, I reported a new Aldi store in Pinson will replace a soon-to-be shuttered Winn-Dixie location.

Aldi acquired Southeastern Grocers and its Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores in March.

This week, it was reported another Alabama location, this one in the city of Bessemer, will be permanently closing. The Winn-Dixie at 2910 Morgan Road is closing August 18 and will also be converted to an Aldi.

The state and territory with the most number of ALDI locations in the US is Florida, with 217 stores, which is about 9% of all ALDI stores in the US.

According to a report this week from HooverSun.com, the Bessemer Winn-Dixie store will close in August and with the upcoming conversion Aldi will continue its national expansion.

As excerpted from the report: The Winn-Dixie store off Morgan Road, just outside western Hoover at Interstate 459 Exit 6, is slated to close Aug. 18 and be converted into an ALDI store in about six months, a manager at the store said.

Winn-Dixie employees will reportedly have to reapply with ALDI.
