Wayne Joseph Holley departed from this world on July 10, 2024. He passed away after a lengthy illness, with his wife, Debra Langenbacker Holley, at his side. Wayne was a 1972 graduate of Long Beach High School in Long Beach, MS. He was the first recipient of the WIC scholarship. Following high school, he attended Jeff Davis Jr. College, where he studied air conditioning and refrigeration. In 1975, he began working at Ingalls Shipyard. Wayne honed his craft as pipefitter at Ingalls for 35 years. If asked where he had learned pipe fitting he would reply, “I learned everything I know at Ingalls University.” Wayne also served for many years as union steward for Local Union 635.

Winnie Lee “Toonie” Aydell Arceneaux, age 97, a native of French Settlement, Louisiana and a resident of Mandeville, Louisiana passed away on July 14, 2024. She was born on April 11, 1927 in French Settlement, Louisiana to Edlee Willis Aydell and Rosa Vicknair Aydell. She resided in New Orleans and Metairie, Louisiana for 78 years. She was a resident at Roquette Lodge in Mandeville, Louisiana for the last 19 years.

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith is urging residents to lock their car doors following a rash of vehicle burglaries which occurred last week in the Slidell area. Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Burglary Unit have arrested two Mississippi men in connection with the more than 10 unlocked vehicles that were burglarized last week in the Bluffs neighborhood near Slidell.
