    Meet the Mountains Festival Returns to Johnson City this Weekend

    JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The Meet the Mountains Festival is set to return this weekend, offering various outdoor activities, live music, and local vendors. The festival, a much-anticipated annual event, will occur at Winged Deer Park on Friday, Aug. 9, and Saturday, Aug. 10.

    The festival celebrates the region’s rich outdoor culture with kayaking, mountain biking, and rock climbing activities. In addition to outdoor activities, attendees can enjoy live performances from local musicians, explore a variety of food trucks, and browse through booths set up by regional artisans and vendors.

    The Meet the Mountains Festival is part of a packed weekend of events in the Tri-Cities, which also includes the Smoky Mountain Fan Fest at the Meadowview Conference Center in Kingsport and the High Knob Outdoor Fest in Norton, Virginia. Each event offers unique attractions, catering to diverse interests across the region.

    Festival organizers encourage attendees to experience the beauty and culture of the Appalachian Highlands. Admission to the Meet the Mountains Festival is free, and more information can be found on the event’s official website.

    Other Events in the Tri-Cities:

    • Smoky Mountain Fan Fest: Kingsport’s Meadowview Conference Center will host this event on Saturday and Sunday. It will feature appearances by movie, television, anime, and video game actors and a wide array of vendors.
    • Kingsport Tomato Fest: The Kingsport Farmers Market will celebrate all things tomato on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, with live music, a tomato contest, and children’s activities.
    • High Knob Outdoor Fest: Starting Saturday and running until Aug. 18 in Norton, Virginia, this festival will feature stargazing, hiking, outdoor yoga, and other activities for nature enthusiasts.

    The weekend promises a vibrant mix of community engagement, cultural experiences, and outdoor adventures, making it a perfect time to explore the Tri-Cities area.
