    Binghamton man charged with attempted murder

    JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Binghamton man was arrested on Sunday following an investigation into a shots fired incident in Johnson City.

    On July 17, at around 11 p.m., the Johnson City Police Department responded to Allen Street for a report of a male with a gun. As officers were responding, it was reported that the male had fired the gun into a residence and left the scene.

    During an investigation, it was revealed that Grady Hunter Jr., 46, had allegedly gone into the residence of his former girlfriend and engaged in a verbal altercation with a male before displaying a gun. It is alleged that Hunter fired the gun into the apartment and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

    JCPD detectives responded and processed the scene before interviewing witnesses. Officers checked several addresses for Hunter but were unable to locate him.

    On July 21, at around 8:25 p.m., a JCPD officer observed Hunter operating a vehicle on Main Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and Hunter was taken into custody without incident.

    Hunter was charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a Class B Felony; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony.

    Hunter was processed at the JCPD and taken to Broome County Central Arraignment.
