    Flyboys soar past the Doughboys, while River Riders take down Axmen

    (WJHL) — The Johnson City Doughboys hosted the Greeneville Flyboys on Friday.

    At the bottom of the third inning, Chase Bloomer got a good hit that dropped into the left-center field. A mistake from Greeneville allowed Austin Lemon to get home for the first run of the game.

    The bases were loaded when national champion Colby Backus of the Tennessee Vols came in for cleanup but was struck out by his Vols teammate Hunter Sloop.

    Flyboys Nick Arias launched one deep into the right field it stayed in play as BJ Peart got home for Greeneville to tie it at 1-1. Greeneville won 9-1.

    After a weather delay, the Kingsport Axmen faced off with the Elizabethton River Riders at home. In the top of the third, Jet Gilliam singled on a line drive to right field, Riley Orr scored to make it 1-0 Axmen.

    In the bottom of the third Johnson City native Cole Torbett, who’s now at MTSU, singled on a line drive to left field and Kevin Hall Jr. scored to make it 3-1 River Riders

    Same inning, the River Riders’ Tanner Waldrop was batting and Adam Magpoc scored from third base on a balk. Betsy led 4-1. River Riders came out on top 11-8.
