On Dec. 7, 2020, Hammonds stole a Peterbilt semi-truck and led officers with the Washington County, Tennessee Sherrif’s Office and Tennessee Highway Patrol on a high-speed pursuit.

Hammonds then reportedly drove the stolen truck on the wrong side of the road with its headlights off and crashed into a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Timmy Hensley, died due to his injuries.
