JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Johnson City man was charged with kidnapping and simple domestic assault on Tuesday after allegedly forcing a woman into his vehicle and preventing her from leaving for seven hours.

The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) reports deputies responded to the 100 block of Frazier Road after a woman called police stating she had been kidnapped and assaulted.

The woman reportedly had visible injuries to her face and told deputies a man, identified by police as Nathan Allen Steele, 34, drove her to a residence, took her cell phone and refused to let her leave for seven hours.

Steele reportedly forced the victim into his vehicle, threw her cell phone out the window and hit her in the face while driving, according to the report.

The woman eventually escaped from the vehicle when Steele stopped on the road, the WCSO stated. She reportedly fled to a residence and called 911.
