The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch Tuesday evening, warning of the possibility of golf ball-sized hail and a few scattered tornadoes. The watch also said that wind gusts of 70 miles per hour were likely.

Janssen observed firsthand the balancing act of hard work and hard luck. He writes songs about everyday life. Janssen has been active in the Midwest traditional music scene since arriving in Iowa City in 2007. Performing on the fiddle, mandolin, guitar, steel guitar, and banjo, he regularly plays with multiple groups across multiple genres, including old-time, bluegrass, country, jazz, folk, and rock. The Thursday Night Live performance begins at 5:30 pm and is free to attend.
Chicago man accused of leading Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies on high speed chase down I-80
An Illinois man is accused of leading Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase down Interstate 80. Arrest records indicate a deputy observed a 2014 Infiniti Q50 with exceedingly loud exhaust and another vehicle traveling at 120 miles per hour on westbound I-80 near the Oxford exit just before 12:30 Sunday morning. A traffic stop was attempted, but the two vehicles ignored lights and sirens and continued at a high rate of speed. The Infiniti, which at one point during the chase allegedly shut off its lights, finally stopped near the Williamsburg exit.
