JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — Early Childhood Alleghenies is offering mini-grants to help child care programs that are starting up or expanding the number of children they serve.

Fifteen mini-grants of $1,000 each were awarded to programs previously, allowing them to hire additional staff, expand infant rooms, and start new childcare programs. An additional $42,000 in mini-grants is now available to licensed childcare providers in Cambria, Somerset, Bedford, Blair, Fayette and Westmoreland Counties

“The EC Alleghenies mini-grant program has been a wonderful resource to support child care centers and smaller family providers. This new round of grants will help additional providers expand their facilities or furnish a new classroom,” Anna Zettle, Project Manager at The Learning Lamp said. “The application is a simple one-page form and is easy for owners or directors to complete.”
