JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Westmont Hilltop Recreation Commission has taken interest in long-abandoned development plans for The Ridge.

During a meeting on Monday, copies of the 61-year-old plans for The Ridge, which is located at 3984 Menoher Blvd, were laid out before members of the commission, according to our media partners at The Tribune-Democract.

The members looked over the plans that included adding ski slopes, a toboggan run, tennis courts, and an ice-skating area, along with more, to the 62.8-acre recreation park.

“This is interesting to look at,” commission Chairman and Westmont Hilltop School Board President Rob Gleason said. “We will give this to the consultant we hire. I think this has tremendous possibilities for the commission moving forward.”

The commission, which was created in January, has been approved for a $58,000 state grant to help fund the master plan for The Ridge. Gleason said that more funding is also expected from another state grant that state Rep. Frank Burns received.
