JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) – Pennsylvania is certainly known for its wrestling prowess. In September, high school wrestlers are heading to Johnstown for FloWrestling’s annual “Who’s Number One” event, which pits the top talent from across the country against each other.

This year’s event will feature two Central Pennsylvania stars in Bishop McCort’s Bo Bassett and Jax Forrest . Both are ranked at the top of the class of 2026 and have seen interest from many Division I programs already. The rising juniors will have entertaining opportunities to avenge losses from this past year.

Bassett, who just won the Pan-American Games this past weekend in Peru, will have a rematch against California’s Daniel Zapeda. During last year’s “Who’s Number One” event, Zapeda shockingly pinned Bassett.

Meanwhile, Forrest’s opponent is still yet to be announced.

Sources predict that he will square off against his fellow U.S. National Team member in Ohio’s Marcus Blaze. Forrest lost to Blaze in the third-place match in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at the Bryce Jordan Center this past April.

“Who’s Number One” will take place at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown’s Sports Center on Sunday, Sept. 29. The time and lineup for the event are still to be determined.

FloWrestling’s announcement of bringing the event to the Flood City is during the 2024 U.S. Marine Corps Junior and 16U National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota. Forrest took home first place along with Chestnut Ridge’s Violette Lasure and Bo’s younger brothers Keegan Bassett and Melvin Miller.
