    Jordon Van Sickle looks to make an impact for Adrian College men's track

    JONESVILLE — It may be the end of his high school athletic career, but 2024 Jonesville graduate Jordon Van Sickle will be continuing his track and field career at the next level.

    The former three-sport Comet student-athlete, who received academic and athletic all-conference honors during his career at Jonesville, will be heading to Adrian College to run track for the bulldogs.

    The NCAA Division III, MIAA conference affiliate offered Vansickle a close drive away from his home and an environment he was happy to continue his academic and athletic career in.

    “It’s only like 45 minutes,” Van Sickle said. “To me, that’s close. It looked like a nice school (with) a nice campus and environment. It just felt like the perfect fit.”

    An accomplished football player, grappler and track runner for Jonesville, VanSickle found his No. 1 sport in track.

    “I just love track,” Van Sickle said. “It’s made me a lot better athlete throughout football and wrestling. It’s kept me in shape, and it’s just done the most for me.”

    Van Sickle was recruited by one of the assistant Bulldog coaches, who invited him for a college visit. It was enough to sell Van Sickle on Adrian College, his school of choice.

    The academic all-conference honoree plans to pursue electrical engineering while attending Adrian College.

    “It just seems (like) a lot of fun, and I just want to do something with my hands.”

    At his signing day, he was joined by his parents, Tanya and Andrew Van Sickle, and brothers. Jordon credited his family for supporting him throughout his athletic career.

    “I love them all. Thanks for supporting me, and it’s been fun.”

    Van Sickle credited the Jonesville track program fand coaching staff, including coach Pete Konieczki, for helping him become a better athlete across all three sports.

    “The program that Jonesville has, if you stick to it, it’s really good, and it’s helped me be a better all-around athlete.”

    During the fall sports season, Van Sickle was a member of the Jonesville varsity football team. He had a standout senior season as a tight end/receiver. He led the Jonesville Comets in receiving yards with 236 on 11 receptions. He averaged 21.5 yards a reception, with a long of 50 yards. He scored four touchdowns. For his efforts, he was named to the first team all-area dream team offense as a tight end.

    During the winter months, Van Sickle was an all-conference wrestler, and he was ranked in the 170–175-pound weight classes by Michigan Grappler in stretches of his career. He was a sophomore district medalist , taking fourth overall at the 2022 district finals.

    On the track, Van Sickle was a sprint specialist, mainly running the 200-meter dash, which he hoped to run for the Bulldogs his freshman year.

    He was an integral part of the 4x200 boys track relay teams his junior and senior year. During his junior season, he helped the relay team earn five top five finishes, including second at the County area best meet. He was also a key runner on the 4x100 team, helping them earn seven top five finishes, including two wins. In the 200, he had a top five finish in three meets and two top 10 finishes.

    He was a state qualifier his senior season in the 4x200 relay. The team of Van Sickle, Nicholas Fowler, Mackinlee Packer and Carter Rounds took 22nd overall at the state finals with a time of 1:33.16.

    The team took first overall at the area best meet, fourth at the conference meet and seventh at the regional finals. They had seven top five finishes, including three wins. In the 4x100, he helped the team win two races and earn three other top five finishes. He earned his PR in the 200, a time of 24.14 seconds, in the first event of the season, winning that race. He then placed in the top five in four follow-up events. He placed 15th overall in the regional finals and 12th overall in the conference finals.
