Health officials encourage residents to report harmful algae blooms
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The high temperatures and a large amount of recent rain could make conditions for algae blooms. State officials want you to be on the lookout for algae blooms on your favorite rivers and lakes. As the weather continues to heat up, people across the state will head out to their local lake or river. Health officials are warning, however, to be aware of what looks like spilled paint or scum on your favorite body of water.

The last honor to award is the MLive Ultimate State Champion. Nearly a decade ago, MLive’s Steve Kaminski developed the formula to determine which school had the best year across all sports. Though we lost Steve in December 2022, we carry on his legacy with the award.
Early morning police chase leads to car crash and 2 arrests in Delhi Township
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A police chase through Ingham County early Wednesday led to a car crash on Cedar Street in Delhi Township. On July 17 at 3:30 a.m., Ingham County Sheriff’s Office officials were called on a vehicle chase entering the county. Deputies said the Bath Township Police Department was chasing a Dodge Challenger on southbound US-127 near Trowbridge Road. Meanwhile, the Bath Township officer lost the car near the Jolly Road and Dunckel Road exit.
