    Jonesville father accused of assaulting six-year old daughter

    A Jonesville man facing child abuse charges was arrested Monday at 10:30 a.m. at East Wilkes High School. According to a press release from the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year old Adam Hal Cave, was served a Yadkin County warrant for felony child abuse.

    Cave was arrested at East Wilkes High School but the charges did not originate from a Wilkes County School, the release stated. The charges were filed by Jonesville Police Department. Cave served as a math teacher at East Wilkes High School and Middle School for the past 15 years. According to the Wilkes County School system public information officer, his employment with the school was terminated on Monday, Feb. 26.

    The Jonesville Police Department has said that Cave is accused of assaulting his 6-year old daughter with a 28” X 3.5” paddle then hitting her across the face knocking her down and dragging her by the leg to her bedroom.

    Laura Cave, the child’s mother, confirmed the allegations.

    This alleged incident occurred at the residence of the Cave family, police said.

    According to authorities, the case is still under investigation by the Yadkin County Department of Social Services and the Jonesville Police Department.
