    Strong winds and rain causing slide off crashes tops Shannon’s Big 3 this week

    Big story #3 – Just before 2:15 p.m. Thursday reports of a two-vehicle crash at 2nd and Jackson alerted Joplin E-911. Joplin police, Joplin fire and METS responded. One person in one vehicle was not responsive, they were rushed to an area hospital priority.

    Big story #2 – About 7:45 a.m. Sunday reports of a serious crash along I-44 near the main street exit alerted Joplin E-911. The crash was located just east of the main street exit, at the beginning of construction work. All travelers were forced to exit I-44 westbound at Rangeline for two hours.

    Big story #1 – Friday morning there were no injuries in numerous slide-off crashes across the area. The rains arrived about 3:30 a.m. With some fierce winds. The National Weather Service in Springfield issued a flash flood watch at 4 a.m. But upgraded to a flash flood warning around 5:30 a.m. As much as 1-3 inches of rain was falling each hour.
