Roadwork in Joplin causing lane closures and traffic delays

JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation announces road work to begin July 22 in Joplin.

According to MoDOT, the roadwork will be between Maiden Land and Loop 49 (Range Line Road) from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m., Monday through Friday until July 26.

Traffic Impacts:

• Expect lane closures on Missouri Route 66 (7th Street) where crews are working
• At least one Route 66 (7th Street) lane open in each direction
• Drivers may experience some delays
• Drivers are urged to use caution due to crews and equipment working close to traffic
• All Route 66 (7th Street) lanes open to traffic during daytime hours
• Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching work zone
• Drivers urged to find alternate routes
• No signed detours

The above work is being done ahead of a bigger project scheduled for 2025.
