HOMER CITY MAN WHO FLED POLICE DUE IN COURT FOR SENTENCING
A Homer City man is due in Indiana County Court today for a sentencing hearing concerning a case from last December. Court documents show 24-year-old Mark Anthony McCloskey will go before Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco today for sentencing connected with a case on December 5th. On that day, state police said they were called out to a home on Route 403 South in Buffington Township at 7:30 in the morning for a report of a man throwing items out of a home and onto the road. When they arrived, McCloskey threatened to slit their throats if they came near. He fled the house soon after, and troopers chased him on foot. He was found and apprehended in a nearby barn.
PLANNED POWER OUTAGE IN INDIANA TOMORROW
Tomorrow, about 91 Penelec customers in Indiana Borough will be without power as some work is done on powerlines. The outage will be from 7 AM to 3 PM and will affect people in the area of North 7th Street, North 8th Street, Nixon Avenue and Philadelphia Street. Those who will be affected by the outage have already received a robocall from the utility company warning them of the outage.

The PA Youth Legion’s 55th State Championship Tournament comes to Indiana County this weekend, with the action getting underway tomorrow morning at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City. There will be four games on Saturday, all of them in Homer City, with four more on Sunday, two at Homer City and two at the White Township Recreation Complex.

The White Township Supervisors were presented with the stewardship plan for White’s Woods at last night’s meeting. The plan has been worked on by the Stewardship Committee since early 2022, and the Township Manager Chris Anderson said the committee has reviewed the public comment gathered last December at a meeting in early May.

The Shapiro Administration is canvassing the state to gather feedback about the best ways to address the opioid and overdose crisis still plaguing the commonwealth.
