LAFAYETTE, Ind. ― Two public deaths Friday morning are under investigation, and the manner of the two men's deaths are pending toxicology reports, Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello said.

William Davis, 67, died about 8:20 a.m. Friday in his front yard in the 3900 block of Prange Drive from a gunshot, according to Tuesday's preliminary autopsy findings released by Costello, who noted that there currently is no suspicion of foul play.

About 40 minutes earlier, Lafayette police were called to a home in the 1400 block of Audubon Road with a report of a domestic disturbance. While officers were en route, they received a report of a shot fired.

Officers discovered Christian Short, 22, lying in his driveway suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police and Costello.

Short was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis, where he died from his wound about 1:40 p.m. Friday, Costello said. She also noted that there is no suspicion of foul play in Short's death.

The manner of death will be determined after toxicology reports are completed and the final autopsy reports are finished by the forensic pathologist. Toxicology reports can take up to eight weeks to return from the laboratory.
